Thunder Studios Capital Management, an in-house capital management division arising from a joint venture between Thunder Studios, Inc. and Struans Media, Inc., has attached $4 million in funding for the P&A of the independent film Nine Eleven. The film, currently in production at Thunder Studios, stars Charlie Sheen, Whoopi Goldberg, Luis Guzman, Wood Harris and Olga Fonda.
Thunder Studios formed a joint venture with Struans Media to support the studio’s existing business units and provide additional capital for the Thunder Studios family of companies, as well as oversee all strategic side-by-side capital relationships and investor relations. Struans Media manages the division. The new capital commitments include support for P&A of specific projects in development at Thunder Studios, as well as co-productions, film acquisitions, traditional and digital content production, mezzanine and gap capital, and acquisition capital for strategic business alliances.
Thunder Studios is a vertically integrated, full-service production studio in Los Angeles that empowers creators across commercial, traditional and digital platforms. The studio sits on more than 200,000 square feet of space and houses 20 production stages.
Thunder Studios CEO Rodric David commented, “Our joint venture with Struans Media is an integral component of Thunder Studios’ strategic plan. The P&A and film finance funds advance Thunder Studios’ mantra of empowering creators, and I’m pleased to be working with the Struans team.”
Struans Media Chairman and CEO George Malasek said, “This is an exciting opportunity for our company. Partnering with Thunder Studios allows us to reach certain milestones at an accelerated pace due to the unique positioning of the studio with its linear and non-linear business model and assets, and an experienced and capable management team that is executing its forward-thinking approach. Thunder Studios Capital Management will play a significant role in the industry and in the growth of the studio.”
