BOSTON, MA — IBC 2017 (Stand 7.F04). axle Video, pioneer of affordable “radically simple” media management, is announcing that a version of its axle 2017 flagship media management software that runs directly on G-Technology’s G-NAS™ OS-powered G-RACK 12 high-performance NAS system will soon be available. This eliminates the need for an extra server appliance (typically a Mac Pro running OSX) and simplifies facility management, space, and logistics, while providing high performance for search, browse, annotation, and sharing tasks constantly performed by production teams of any size. The axle 2017 software for G-RACK is priced starting at $3,995 for 5 users; add-on modules are also available including axle’s groundbreaking axle.ai solution, starting at $5,995, which brings machine intelligence to the video search process, dramatically reducing the need for labor-intensive video logging.
“We’ve seen the tremendous strides made by G-Technology in the creative shared storage market with G-RACK” said Sam Bogoch, CEO of axle Video, “and now their customers can easily gain even more value and further accelerate production speed by making all media instantly retrievable and useable by teams and clients located anywhere, with axle 2017 software running on their G-RACK 12 high-performance NAS system.” Many users who are making the transition from local storage on Macs to highly beneficial shared storage, do not realize that most of the tools for local file management (including OSX’s Spotlight) don’t work in a networked environment. axle 2017 fills this gap and more, by providing browsing tools that work from proxy media for mark in-out sub-clipping, integrated export to Adobe Premiere Pro CC and Apple FCPX, and even an integrated panel for Adobe Premiere Pro CC.
With up to 40 percent of video editors’ time spent searching for media, and typically much more than that for assistant editors, producers and others, a media management system that makes it possible for the right media to be instantly retrieved, browsed, tagged, and annotated is invaluable. In addition, axle customers can add axle ai software for sophisticated automatic tagging and instant visual search. With this option, media is analyzed, compared and tagged from a vast image recognition database, saving the great amounts of time required to manually tag media, and making media search much more powerful, including characters, words, logos, and other highly specific visual information.
“Enhancing the video production workflow with embedded applications such as axle 2017 brings expanded functionality to G-RACK for creative teams” stated Mike Williams vice president, advanced technologies/G-Technology, Client Solutions Group, Western Digital.. “Working together with established software partners such as axle Video delivers greater value to our collective customers and showcases the advanced value proposition of G-Technology’s storage solutions.”
From the G-NAS OS Admin Browser, administrators can download, install, and run axle 2017 media management software directly on the G-RACK 12 high-performance NAS system. axle 2017 for G-NAS OS is available for $3,995 for a five user license. The software license is obtained directly from axle Video. Additional five user license blocks are priced at $2,995, and the axle.ai option is priced starting at $5,995.
